Each ereading device has different steps for checking out ebooks. These generic directions will work for most devices, but check under the FMS Digital Library link on the left for device-specific instructions.

Click on
How to Check Out a Book (this will put the book on your computer. Directions for individual devices are under the device name links on the left side of the page.)
  • Go to the FMS Digital Library
  • Sign In. Your Card # is the number under your library barcode in your agenda book. Your PIN is your computer login password.
  • Search for an ebook
  • Click the Borrow button
  • Click Download
  • In "My Locker" click Download and save it to your computer.
  • The next next step depends on your device. See the help pages on the left.
If a book is checked out, you will see a purple Wait button. You will be notified by email when the ebook is available. If you are under 13, you will be asked to enter your parents email address before you can put a book on hold. This is due to a law called the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). Some books are available only to 7th/8th graders who have a signed Mature Reader slip on file with the FMS library.
