In our Middle Level Program, learning the design concepts of the Elements and Principles of Design is our key goal. Students will learn these design concepts through the making and evaluating of a variety art medium experiences. The projects will include the drawing mediums of pencil, charcoal, pastel, ink, and scratchboard. The painting mediums of acrylic, tempera, printmaking and multi-media. Sculpture mediums of mobile, plaster, clay, mache' and wire. And digital photography. Class and community groups projects, as well as set design and production for our school play are also part of our school year programming.
In our High School program, students will complete self-initiated projects in the mediums of drawings, paintings, sculpture, printmaking, and choice. These finished projects will be evaluated using the concepts of the Elements and Principles of Design. Accumulation of 85 units, 5 units for each class hour, in conjunction with their project evaluation grades, will result in one semester elective credit and grade.
