Battle of the Books

The Friends of the Brainerd Public Library, Brainerd Public Schools Foundation,
and Brainerd Public Schools are proud to offer Battle of the Books - A Summer Reading Extravaganza!

While the program is free to participants, donations are greatly appreciated to keep it that way. Click here to donate.

Note: 5th graders have a choice of either, or both, sets.

Battle of the Books is designed to develop a love of reading by:

Immersing students in thought provoking books,
Surrounding them with support,
And providing lots of fun, food and prizes along the way!

In its second summer, Brainerd’s Battle of the Books
develops a love of reading by not only providing four free thought provoking books, but the opportunity to come together throughout the summer to discuss the themes, meet the authors, and enjoy food, fun, and prizes!

Additionally, September GRAND BATTLES - game show-style book competitions - increase the fun with winners receiving cash prizes up to $100, and all participants walking away with more books and the ability to spend up to $10 at their school's fall Scholastic Book Fair.
