Below is the district’s process for addressing requests for public data. Upon submission, please provide information regarding the specific documents you wish to inspect.
All requests for data pursuant to the
Minnesota Government Data Practices Act (MGDPA) must be submitted in writing through e-mail communication to
[email protected] or via mail addressed to Brainerd Public Schools, Attn: Interim Superintendent, Peter Grant, 804 Oak Street, Brainerd, MN 56401. Requests must contain the information as outlined in Form 722F, as linked below.
The timing of the District’s responses to your data requests will be governed by the requirements of the MGDPA. For general requests to inspect data, the District is required to make data available for inspection “at reasonable times and places.”
Minn. Stat. § 13.03, subd. 3(a). A reasonable time for responding to a data request is dependent upon the amount of data requested. A reasonable time does not mean an “immediate” response. If you request data of which you are the subject, the District has up to ten days, excluding Saturdays, Sundays, and legal holidays, to provide a response.
Minn. Stat. § 13.04.
Pursuant to the Minnesota Government Data Practices Act, the District may impose a charge for its actual costs of searching for and retrieving the data, including the cost of employee time, and for making, certifying, and electronically transmitting copies of the data. See See Minn. Stat.
13.03, subd. 3(c).
