In October 2014, the Board of Education directed administration to develop a comprehensive facilities plan. The final plan known as Blueprint 181, which was completed using an extensive, three-year, collaborative process, is the direct result of what the school district heard from our community about what they value about our schools.

During a three-year planning phase, the Brainerd School District hosted 150 community hearings to get input on the referendum. Now they're taking the results of this process and presenting them back to the public.

Negotiations between the Brainerd School District and Education Minnesota Brainerd have yielded significant changes for employees in the district moving forward.

The Brainerd School Board finalized the bond referendum language voters will see on ballots this spring and the cost to taxpayers if each question is approved. Nisswa Elementary School is part of the Brainerd district. The facilities plan includes $12 million in improvements to Nisswa School.

Blueprint 181, the comprehensive long-range proposal to address the facility needs of Brainerd Public Schools, will be presented to voters as three ballot questions on a special election scheduled for Tuesday, April 10, 2018, with early voting beginning on February 23.

This spring, voters will have an opportunity to decide whether to move forward with the Brainerd Public Schools Board of Education Blueprint 181 plan to address health, safety and educational adequacy needs in all our school buildings.
