History Now

History Now is a free, downloadable website of Brainerd Public Schools Archives, launched in 2024.

History Now contains a variety of subjects, reflecting but not inclusive of the thousands of real and digital diverse artifacts in the Archives Collection housed in the largest artifact of Brainerd Public Schools: The Washington Building, now known as the Washington Educational Services Building, constructed in 1928 – 1929.

The Collection ranges from a rare book published in England in the 1640s to photographs of current BPS-related events. It is increasingly representative of the now more than 150 years of BPS history.

As a result of financial austerity measures, the Archives is currently unfunded by ISD 181 and depends solely on financial donations, which can be made here

Donations of artifacts, no matter how seemingly important or apparently unimportant, to the Archives Collection are always welcome and easily made. To inquire about financial or archival donations, or to become an Archives volunteer, Contact Archives at bps.history@isd181.org.
